If you can believe it, you can beweave it.

Or sew it. Or something like that.

Y'ALL, this dress.  $20.00 bucks annnnnd it has pockets.  Dresses with pockets are probably up there at the very top of on my “favorite things” list. (Along with sweats suit pants WITH pockets and chicken buffalo dip. Not necessarily in that order.)

So I ordered several things from SheIn about a month ago and they did not disappoint.  Everything I received was just as I expected, if not better.  I did read the reviews for the items I wanted before I ordered which definitely helped (I always do that – look at photos people post, read through comments about sizing, etc).  Just know that your order takes about 2 or so weeks to arrive. But for the price, I’m perfectly fine with that.

I received this dress about 2 weeks ago and it’s been hanging on my clothes rack.  As soon as I tried it on I knew it needed altering but I hadn’t ordered in my new sewing machine yet.  I’ve been thinking about getting a new sewing machine for some time and I finally bit the bullet and bought one (amazon prime yo). I’ve had it about a week and a half and have used it 3 or 4 times already – I bought it to alter and tailor clothing, so it has already come in handy.  I absolutely love it.

Yesterday I decided to tackle this dress – it was pretty easy although the fabric is not cotton – it’s a little thicker and has a sheen to it, so I wanted to take my time.  It turned out perfect.  I took in the bust by hand and then I hemmed the bottom by about 5 inches.

I also ordered this two piece outfit below, which I was in love with – so cute and so summer-y.  And $31.00!  The top doesn’t have bra sewn in so you’re on your own there, but nothing a little fabric tape couldn’t remedy.  The fabric is actually kind of a thick linen type fabric and I chose the hottest evening to take photos, of course.  Yay me.  I was sweating balls.  (P.S. the top has a long side and a short side – the short side goes in front.  You’re welcome.)

And lastly, the heels are Steve Madden (last summer).

And now, you know everything.

xo,
Jennifer

I've been thinking..............scary.

I feel like I need some sort of shtick otherwise I kind of feel like I’m mindlessly posting.  Back before the recession 10 yrs ago, which yes, I know, dates me #improbablyoldenoughtobeyourmomz I did not think twice about dropping $200 and $300 dollars on a single pair of jeans every couple of weeks. To me, now, it just seems like a waste of money and even more so because you can find really well made clothing for a fraction of that cost.  It does take some effort, but like anything else, the more you do it, the better you get at it……… or the easier it gets, really.

So when I first started this blog 5 years ago, the intent then was to learn to shop your closet and wear a new outfit every day – I gave myself the weekends off after while because it was a lot of work.  I can honestly say that the 9 months (??) I posted then, I learned to shop more efficiently for clothing – and 5 yrs later, I’m still wearing most of the items I bought then, shirts included.  I also keep a mental list of “wants” when I shop so I know what I’m looking for MOST of the time (hahaha) which has proven to be very helpful and I very seldom have buyer's remorse. And I wear a lot of the same items in spring and in the winter – it’s a thought every time I shop and can really extend your closet.

So maybe that’s the kind of outfits I will be posting on here – outfits around the $50.00 price mark.  I still buy expensive-ish shoes…………………………  but they’re worth splurging on in my opinion.

I don’t remember where I bought these jeans, they were super cheap, like under $20.00, but they were just really long and really weird, therefore I never wore them.  And then one morning a couple of months ago I said to myself  YOLO and I cut the knee holes and cut bottoms off and then took a seam ripper and frayed all of it.  The tank top was a sale item at F21 - $7.00.  It was a size large, which I am not, but it draped nicely and plan on wearing several different ways. I bought the camo jacket at Kohls in 2013, and it’s a favorite.

Anywho, look at me, another post in the same damn week.

FACT.

"If your shirt isn't tucked into your pants, then your pants are tucked into your shirt." Some other quick facts about this day is that these photos were taken in 96 degree heat, I'm wearing a lined blazer, jeans, and have a marshmallow tucked in around my waist. We found a spot outside a Goodwill store, out of the direct sun......................................... but y'all, it. was. hot. as. balls. I sweat my little heart out and I fake laughed at power lines.  All in all, it was a huge success. Yuge.

Blazer: This a cropped tuxedo blazer I bought from Forever21 in 2012.  It was super cheap but well made. I didn't start wearing it until last year.  It's easily one of my favorite pieces.
Jeans: I bought these jeans from Dress Up Boutique - they're the high waisted jeans and $36.99. They are super comfy, stretchy and are a recent purchase.  Like within the last 2-3 weeks.
Tee: This a Junkfood brand tee I found online at F21.
Purse: TJMaxx (2015)
Heels:  Jessica Simpson (2016)

Consignment finds

I've recently discovered a consignment shop near my house that is theeeee bomb.  I've bought several pairs of jeans lately: Citizens of Humanity, Paige Premium, and Joe's Jeans - all three pairs of jeans, basically new, for under $100.00............. total.

I bought this little tunic at the same consignment shop for $11.00 and paired it with black shorts, a lace bralette, black sandals, and 25 lbs of necklaces.

I have no selfie control.

Clearly.  Here's a couple of weekend photos from the last several weekends.  Who wears jeans and sweaters in 90 degree heat?

This girl.

That's who.

Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you, you could, you'll do, you, you wants, you, you could do so, you, you'll do, you could, you, you want, you want them, to do you so much, you could do anything?

Hey girl heyyy.  Man, it's been 3 months already - my bad. I think that you guys are going to have to realize that nearly every post will begin with................. "sorry, I've been busy."  This is always true, but I am trying to make more of an effort.  However I don't follow rules. I follow dogs. On social media. I have however found two (two!) "Instagram husbands".  So I guess you could say that things are definitely looking up haha.

Sooo I live near the cutest old little town that has been revitalized which has made for a quick and easy backdrop for pictures. And there's me, alone in an alley, laughing at my own jokes. That's right guys, living the dream right here.

99 problems but a pattern ain't one.

4.27.17

I've been slacking..... sort of. With posts anyway. Life just got busy. And in the book of life, that's just how shit rolls. You feel me? I had a root canal. Oh wait, let me back up. I broke (and broke off) my bottom back molar eating................a chip. Then I had the root canal. Which then became abscessed and required three additional trips to the dentist and a half swollen/half lopsided face for a week. So in. So hot. So nowww.  I was not #abscessed about the whole situation. See what I did there? Seriously theeee worst localized pain I've ever been in.  I've been slammed at work preparing for closings - schedule is stacked through May. Yolo. I've been painting/redecorating/updating the lower level of my house - after 10 years it was time for an update. AND my beautiful niece made her debut last Tuesday and she is theeee sweetest little angel. Oh I just love her so!!

I've worn a couple of outfits which were photo worthy during this time so I'll just do what I normally do when nobody sees me at the grocery store on Sunday, I'll wear the same outfit tomorrow, k?  I'll wear again and post. Swerve. Shit, trying to remember what I wore though?? I'll figure it out. You can trust me (don't ever trust anyone that says you can trust me.  Except for me. DISCLAIMER: sometimes.)

Button down:  F21
Jeans - Express
Shoes - Target, circa 2012. (I need another pair. They're getting pretty worn out.)

Outfit Post

It's the end of the month and quarter and today has been busy. I've got nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. But this. I got this:

Blouse - F21 (I have a problem with blouses. I have a ton of them. I can't quit them. They're so easy to pair literally anything with.)
Jeans - TJMaxx (these are Abercrombie.  I found these back in Feb and snatched them up. Went back to TJMaxx two weekends ago and saw one pair, exact same pair I had, on clearance for $16.00. Sold!)
Heels - Nordstrom (Halogen. They have fringe. Enough said.)
Purse - Windsor Store

"Me", by me.

I just wanted to give you an insight into my personal thought process while taking outfit pics:

“Fix hair – stand tha – not that way – ok that looks ok – damn I got a big head – ok – stand thi – shit – ok turn a little – holy shit I’m sweating – my hair, dammit – ok, fix hair – ugh stand up straighter – that one might be good – ok you look crazy -  look less crazy in the face – shit should I smile – ok that looks weird – nice gut - put shoulders back – maybe frontal – ok looks like I’m trying too hard – eyes looked a little crossed in that one – hold phone farther away – fuuuuck I’m sweating – flip hair right – flip it back to left – arms are tired - ugh don’t move – don’t want to lose place – ugh I’m sick of this – just another one – oh shit that looked ok – one more – nope.”

Sincerely,
Me

Shirt - GAP (I bought this shirt from Goodwill for $4.00.  It is a men's size large. I am not a men's size large. So I pulled out my sewing machine, ran a seam up both sides of shirt AND down the inside/and down the length of both sleeves........ and voila! Super easy.)
Skirt - Forever 21 (I bought this skirt this past Feb - $17.90.  I mean, really. And it has pockets.)
Heels - Jessica Simpson (D'Orsay style pumps - I bought these at Nordstrom last year. I have these in nude too and are easily some of my fav heels.  They go with errrrything.)

White on white

Blazers.  Are they still a thing?  What about a hole in the crotch of your pants?  Asking for a friend.

Blazer – Forever21 (circa 2012)
T-shirt – Target (bought one size up)
Boyfriend Jeans – Charlotte Russe (I think I bought these in 2011… I. love. them. I’ve sewn these pants up too many times to count. I’m still on the lookout for another pair. In the meantime, I will keep sewing these up until I can’t anymore.)
Heels – Steve Madden.  (I bought these last year.  Buy one, get one free type deal.  Baller on a budget style.)

New year, old me.

Hi. Anyone there?

6 or 7 years later.  What the hell have I been up to?  Well, let's see, I got dressed a couple of times. I stopped plucking my eyebrows. And I took a lot of naps. It's been pretty successful.

Anywhooo, so lets see if I still know how to post. I did find my password after all.
